Flipboard has introduced the ability for users to follow anyone in the fediverse.

Meta has announced updates for the Threads desktop experience for creators and brands.

Threads has rolled out a blue label for posts related to recent trending topics in the US. This label will also display the number of related posts. Users can click on the label to view other related posts and sort them by "Top" or "Recent."

As Threads approaches its one-year anniversary (July 5th) and now has over 175 million users, Meta collaborated with Wakefield Research to delve into how users engage with the text-based app and social media overall.

Threads rolled out an updated desktop experience, allowing users to pin columns for different feeds such as For You, Following, Liked or Saved Posts, Activity, and other user profiles.

Threads is currently testing post-archiving. Users have the option to manually archive individual posts or set them to automatically archive after a certain period.

Threads is testing an invite-only bonus program that compensates creators based on the performance of their posts and/or the number of posts they create.

Threads is testing swipe gestures. By swiping right on a post to like it, or left to show disinterest, users can help train their algorithms and influence what appears on their For You feed over time.

Threads has begun testing its API with select third-party apps, including Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Social News Desk, and Techmeme.
