Meta Will Recommend Reels In More Places Across Instagram & Facebook & Optimize Ranking System for Newer Creators

Meta says it will make Reels more prominent. According to a press email, the platform will be recommending Reels in more places across Instagram and Facebook. For example, users may see Reels higher in their Home Feed and more frequently in their search results. It is also working to optimize its ranking systems so creators who are newer to Instagram and Facebook “are able to break through to new audiences.”

Why It Matters: Amid growing uncertainty for creators, Meta is ramping up efforts to support them. Other updates, like extending Reels to three minutes and launching the Breakthrough Bonus program, which offers TikTok creators up to $5,000 in bonuses over three months, make Meta more attractive, especially for short-form video creators.

By recommending Reels in more places and giving newer creators a chance to be discovered, it's a compelling reason for creators to not just invest in Reels as a format, but also appeal to creators who have historically focused on TikTok.
