Meta Lets Creators Display Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Handles & Follower Counts on Facebook Profiles & Pages
Meta is improving profiles and Pages on Facebook. Creators can now add links from third-party platforms to their profiles and Pages and display follower counts from those platforms directly on Facebook.
In the Links section, creators can tap Add a social link and select the platform(s) they want to connect. Supported platforms include Instagram, Threads, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and more. Creators can add their handle and decide whether to display follower or subscriber counts for each selected platform.
Why It Matters: While Meta’s changes to Instagram profiles have received mixed reactions, this update to Facebook profiles should be seen as a positive move. The ability to add links to third-party platforms and display follower or subscriber counts can help creators expand their following across platforms and boost their credibility.
Social media platforms have fluctuated in their approach to linking. During the pandemic, many platforms began allowing creators to link off-platform as a way to support them. However, more recently, some have discouraged external links, as they drive users away from the platform. However, with recent developments around TikTok and creators focusing more on diversification, a simple update like this can be appealing. It helps creators build their audiences across all their channels.
