Threads’ Highly Requested Web Experience Is Here
Threads has rolled out its highly requested web experience, allowing users to access the text-based platform from their desktops and laptops. To do so, users can visit threads.net and log in with their Instagram username and account. Upon logging in, they will be greeted by their personalized "For You" feed. A user-friendly toggle at the bottom left of the screen allows users to switch between the "For You" and the recently launched "Following" feed. Aside from these minor distinctions, the web interface closely resembles its mobile counterpart.
Why it Matters: The launch of Threads' web version comes at a pivotal moment, aiming to re-energize the app, which has seen a decline in user engagement since its impressive debut of 100 million users in the first week. Although still in its early stages, the web interface marks a positive step for Threads. To maintain this upward trajectory, Meta will need to introduce highly sought-after features like trending topics, post-search functionalities, and the ability to edit posts. These enhancements are crucial for Threads to regain some of the high levels of user engagement it once enjoyed and better compete with X, formerly known as Twitter.
