Instagram Add Title for Reels

Instagram has been spotted testing an "Add Title" feature for Reels covers. When selecting a frame for a Reel's cover, users will have the option to add text directly to the cover, offering more customization for creators.

Why It Matters: Instagram is enhancing in-app customization for Reels by allowing users to add text to covers directly within the app.

This follows the recent addition of editing capabilities for existing Reel covers. It aligns with similar moves from TikTok and YouTube, which have also introduced tools to provide more flexibility for thumbnails and covers in short-form video content.

However, despite these updates, platforms have downplayed the importance of thumbnails and covers in short-form videos, as they surface in limited contexts. Still, they provide value for creators who want to maintain a specific aesthetic on their profiles and can help attract viewers when scrolling through a creator’s feed.
