Instagram Now Allows Posts with GIFs & Stickers to Be Boosted

Instagram announced updates for boosted posts.

What’s New

Now, posts featuring “most” GIFs and stickers are eligible for boosting. Additionally, Instagram officially announced an option for users to swap out copyrighted music for boost-eligible audio—a feature I first discovered back in March.

Why It Matters

These updates will help alleviate some of the challenges creators and brands face when boosting content with ineligible elements like GIFs, stickers, and copyrighted music. This issue has been particularly prominent with Partnership Ads, as creators often don’t realize certain elements are restricted or aren’t informed by their brand contacts. As a result, they sometimes need to repost their content without the ineligible elements, which can occasionally create tension between creators and brands.

More Eligible Content, More Ad Revenue Potential

Meta has been gradually introducing solutions to reduce the need for users to repost content in order to boost it.

One of the most notable updates has been notifying creators in advance when their Story content might be ineligible for Partnership Ads. This is beneficial not only for creators and brands but also for Meta itself, as increasing the amount of eligible content for boosting creates more potential for ad revenue.
