Instagram Lets Users Share Multiple Photos in One Story with the Launch of Collages for Stories
Instagram has launched a Collage feature for Stories, discovered by Matt Navarra. Available via the tray in Stories, users can select multiple photos and share them in a single Story as a Collage.
Why It Matters: With the launch of Collages, Instagram joins a growing list of platforms—such as Pinterest, Amazon, and TikTok’s sister app Lemon8—that support collage-related features. These have become popular with younger audiences like Gen Z, who enjoy sharing curated "photo dumps” and curating their favorite products.
Instagram's feature will make it easier for users to share multiple photos at once, including photo dumps that showcase their weekends, recent travels, and more.
Some creators have shared that they see a big drop-off when they post more than one Story, which has led to more strategic sharing—posting only one Story and not uploading another until it has expired. Based on that, collages could come in handy for creators who want to maximize the reach of a single Story while sharing multiple photos.
Given the popularity of the format, TikTok is likely to follow suit. With its push for photos, shopping, and the recent integration with Lemon8——TikTok rolling out its own collage feature would make sense, especially for combining product images that link out to products in TikTok Shop.
