Instagram Introduces New Text-Based Creative Tools for Reels, Stories, Photos, and Carousels
Instagram has introduced several new text-based creative tools. For Reels and Stories, users now have access to expanded fonts, effects, and animations, along with a simplified text tool. For Photos and Carousels, users can now add text and layer images using stickers.
The platform teamed up with creators Edgy Katrina and Emma Orhun to highlight some of the new features.
Why It Matters: These updates empower creators to express themselves more creatively across their preferred formats. By enabling users to add unique elements directly within the app, Instagram enhances storytelling through multimedia, reducing the need for third-party tools like Canva for creating text-based Carousels.
As Instagram continues to roll out updates across various content formats, it shows the platform’s commitment to catering to a diverse creator base. While Reels may be the current and future focus, Photos and Carousels have also received numerous updates over the past year, much to the delight of photo enthusiasts.
With TikTok’s recent push into photo content, including the launch of a standalone app for photos and text in TikTok Notes, Instagram will likely continue to advance its photo-centric initiatives to support its original creator base and maintain its market position, especially as other platforms seek to capitalize on photo content.
