Twitch Launches Drop Ins to Simplify and Speed Up Streamer Collaborations
Twitch has introduced Drop Ins for Stream Together, making it easier for creators to go live with each other. With Drop Ins, creators can check their Followed Channels or visit another streamer's channel page to see who's available for collaboration. They can then use a collaboration icon to "knock" on the streamer's door, sending a chat notification. The other streamer can choose to accept and let them join as a co-streamer.
Streamers have the option to opt out and control who can request collaborations.
Why It Matters: Drop Ins streamline the collaboration process for streamers. Instead of manually reaching out and scheduling, creators can now spontaneously team up. This feature benefits both longtime friends and newcomers looking for impromptu collaborations.
Collaborations are a powerful way for creators to expand their reach by tapping into each other's audiences. That's why many platforms are developing collaborative features, particularly those that help creators connect. Instagram's Open to Collaborating feature, for instance, allows creators to signal their interest in partnerships. TikTok is also testing Collaborative Posts with select accounts.
