Google Introduces Creative Guidance Tool for YouTube Ads

Google has launched a new tool to assist advertisers with their YouTube ads, called Creative Guidance. Using AI, the tool detects best practice elements within a video, such as:

  • Brand logo: Does the brand logo appear prominently in the first five seconds of the video?

  • Voiceover: Does the video have a voiceover?

  • Video duration: Does the video follow the recommended length based on the marketing objective?

  • Aspect Ratio: Does the ad group include at least one of the recommended video orientations like horizontal, vertical, or square?

If one of the best practices is missing, Google will flag it. If there is a recommendation or tool to implement a suggestion, Google will direct advertisers to it. For example, Google may suggest adding a voiceover if one is missing, as it offers voiceovers in over 15 languages in Google Ads. In cases where a campaign would benefit from videos of different durations, it will guide advertisers to the Trim video tool.

Why it Matters: Big tech platforms are increasingly providing new AI-powered tools to help advertisers create ads at scale, making their efforts more efficient. By offering recommendations for best practices, Creative Guidance specifically helps advertisers optimize their ads for performance. With the integration of AI into advertising solutions, advertisers can glean more data and insights for their advertising efforts, which can help them get more out of their budgets.
