Reddit Launches Contextual Keyword Targeting and Product Ads
Reddit has launched two new advertising features: Contextual Keyword Targeting and Product Ads. The former allows advertisers to associate their brands with specific keywords or align keywords with their ad copy to increase relevance, enabling them to be inserted into active discussions and high-intent organic searches on Reddit. The latter aims to connect brands with consumers during the product research phase through ads featuring product information, pricing, and a call-to-action button that directs users to the brand's product page.
These two solutions can help brands take advantage of Reddit’s highly engaged, close-knit communities to drive top to lower-funnel actions. They also support Reddit’s foray into more social commerce. Unfortunately, the value of these solutions may be diminished at the moment due to the thousands of subreddits that have gone “dark” in response to the platform’s price increase for its API for third-party apps.
