LinkedIn Rolls Out Messaging Updates to Improve User Experience
LinkedIn announced several new updates aimed at making messaging more seamless and less disruptive:
Better Visibility for "Other" Messages: Messages assigned to the “Other” folder within the Focused Inbox will now trigger a banner at the top of the Focused tab—helping users avoid missing important communications.
Less Disruptive Messaging on Desktop: Previously, new messages would pop up and automatically open, sometimes interrupting what users were doing. Now, they’ll appear in a minimized format, allowing users to check them when it’s convenient.
Improved Video Sharing: Users can now play videos directly within conversations, eliminating the need to download them first.

Why It Matters: These updates make LinkedIn messaging more efficient, user-friendly, and aligned with modern communication habits. By reducing friction and improving content consumption within private chats, LinkedIn is continuing its shift toward a messaging-first experience—a trend also seen on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
The updates build on recent improvements to post sharing in messages, signaling LinkedIn’s broader strategy to make private interactions a more central part of user engagement.
