LinkedIn Now Lets Users Add Native Videos to Articles and Newsletters

LinkedIn now allows users to add native videos to their Articles and Newsletters. When tapping the Media icon, users can select either an image or a video. Videos can be uploaded from a computer or dragged directly into the designated box.
Once the video is uploaded, users can add closed captions, save, and include a caption for the video. The video will then be displayed within the article with a built-in video player.

Why It Matters: Video has been a key focus for LinkedIn in recent months, with updates like making vertical videos more prominent in the feed and expanding mobile video experiences to desktop. This update continues that trend, offering yet another way to share video content.
For users, this creates an opportunity to make long-form written content more visually appealing and dynamic with video. Those with newsletters can start uploading native videos, treating them somewhat like LinkedIn’s version of long-form YouTube content.
A few specific use cases could include video podcasts or interviews, where creators and marketers share a full episode while also providing key takeaways or even a transcript. Another example is creators and marketers uploading a series of recent short-form videos along with additional context.
At the moment, it doesn't seem like LinkedIn will provide specific metrics videos added to Articles or Newsletters, but eventually, supporting that could be helpful and include for people to use the new option as they would be able to see how people are actually engaging with video within their long-form content.
