Instagram Encourages Users to Schedule Late-Night Messages for Later

Lindsey Gamble

Instagram has started encouraging users to schedule messages. For example, when sending a message late at night, users may get a notification stating:

“Consider scheduling your message to send later. Tap and hold the send button to schedule it.”

Why It Matters: The notification comes as Instagram recently launched the ability for users to schedule direct messages. This prompt not only encourages users to try the new feature but may also be a strategic move to increase engagement through direct messages.

Scheduling a message for the morning, rather than late at night, increases the chances of getting a response and can lead to more back-and-forth conversations, similar to text messaging.
