YouTube Expands Partnership With Shopify to Bring More Merchants Into Shopping Program

YouTube / Shopify Partnership

YouTube is expanding its partnership with Shopify, allowing all eligible Shopify Plus and Advanced merchants in the US to sign up for YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program via the Google and YouTube app on Shopify. Shopify merchants will be able to manage their programs and view content, analytics, and products from the Google Merchant Center.

YouTube also resurfaced its announcement about its Chrome extension for YouTube Shopping which lets creators save products while browsing a brand or retailer’s site and tag them in their videos later.

Why It Matters: This expanded partnership enables more merchants to collaborate with creators to reach audiences and drive sales, while creators gain access to thousands of products from new brands like BK Beauty, Popflex, HexClad, GoPure Beauty, and more to feature in their content and earn commission revenue.

According to YouTube, people watched over 30 billion hours of shopping-related videos in 2023. Adding more shopping features, from making it easier for creators to tag products to now this, should help drive even more hours of shopping content.

With these latest updates, YouTube is positioning itself better to compete with TikTok, which has been focused on building its own commerce solution in TikTok Shop, including running its own version of Amazon Prime Day.
