YouTube has been testing Communities with a group of creators for a while now, including @froggycrossing, who was first spotted with a Community.
Why It Matters: With Communities, YouTubers have a native experience for their fans and themselves to gather.
Creators typically have to use third-party platforms like Patreon and Circle for these types of experiences, but with Communities, they can host them right where their content lives. This is convenient, and it also creates the potential for YouTube to build future monetization features around it.
Native community-related features on social media platforms have gained traction recently. For example, Instagram launched Broadcast Channels in 2023, giving creators a way to connect directly with their most loyal fans right in the app.
