TikTok Launches Interactive 'Donation Stickers' Enabling Creators & Their Communities To Donate Funds To Charitable Organizations
TikTok is continuing to support the battle against COVID-19. The ByteDance owned app announced the launch of Donation Stickers in a blog post today (April 27th).
“We've been impressed and heartened by the selfless steps our community has taken to help each other, and now we're excited to be able to give our users another way to make a positive impact,” the short-form video shared in the announcement blog post.
With Donation Stickers, creators and their communities can raise funds for charities and causes that they care about. The Donation Stickers are interactive and can easily be embedded in creators’ videos and TikTok LIVE streams. When another user taps a Donation Sticker that is embedded in a video or stream, a pop-up window will open, allowing them to submit a donation in-app.
The stickers are powered by Tiltify, a charitable fundraising platform that securely processes donation transactions. This marks Tiltify’s first-ever mobile integration, but it previously worked with Twitch on other charitable initiatives.
As of launch, TikTok is partnering with the following charitable organizations:
CDC Foundation
James Bread Foundation
Meals On Wheels
MusiCares
National PTA
National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation
No Kid Hungry
The Actors Fund
According to TikTok, these are organizations who support vulnerable groups that are reflective of the app’s communities.
For more support, it will be matching donations made via the Donation Stickers through May 27th. Additionally, any videos or TikTok LIVE streams that use Donation Sticker will automatically have #doubleyourimpact added to them.
“We know that the boundless creativity and goodwill of the TikTok community has the power to impact the world and make it a more joyful and safe place. We’re excited to see how our community uses Donation Stickers to do good and inspire others to do the same while we #doubleyourimpact,” says TikTok.

Insights & Analysis:
Due to the significant impact of COVID-19, donation features have somewhat become a no-brainer for platforms of all types. Not only do social media apps like Instagram and Facebook have donation features, but streaming services like Spotify and SoundCloud have recently launched features of their own.
As a result of the recent launch of donation features within the last few weeks, TikTok’s Donation Stickers should come as no surprise especially considering how active TikTok has been with fighting COVID-19. Between hundred million dollar donations, live streaming fundraising events, and the recent Small Gestures initiative, TikTok has done a great job of leveraging its platform and resources for good. It continues to do that with the Donation Stickers by having an in-app feature and providing partner organizations, thereby lowering the barrier to entry. By doing this, it increases the chances that someone will donate to COVID-19 relief.
