Pinterest Launches New Board-Specific Tools & Features To Make It Easier For Users To Plan
Pinterest has launched a new set of Pinterest Board-specific tools and features to make it easier for users to plan on the app.
“That’s why today we’re introducing features to boards to make it easier to plan and manifest all of that visual inspiration from Pinterest into real life, with new notes to self directly on Pins, board favorites and a board toolbar,” the visual discovery engine said in a blog post.
The new features and tools are as follows:
Notes To Self: A new section on Saved Pins that gives users the ability to add private notes like reminders or comments. Some examples of notes that users can leave are "try this for brunch” or “this will go well with the living room rug."
Board Toolbar: A toolbar that allows users to sort through Pins easily by highlighting all the actions that can be taken on a board, such as exploring more ideas related to Pins and accessing notes.
Board Favorites: Users can mark their favorite Pins in their boards by tapping a star icon.
Notes to self, the board toolkit, and board favorites are all available now to iOS and Android users.
Insights:
The features and tools come as a result of an increase in the usage of boards. According to Pinterest, the number of boards being created every month is up 35% year-over-year. Categories such as beauty (44%), women’s fashion (95%), and home decor (36%) are seeing the biggest gains.
While simple, these features, and tools make it easier for users to plan on the app by providing them with more organization and discovery functionality, particularly all in one place.
For example, before the rollout of notes to self, users likely used the iPhone Notes app or a Word document to track their ideas. Now, users can keep track of their ideas directly in the app, making it easier for them to know the context of why they saved a Pin to a specific board. This type of convenience has the ability to help turn inspiration into action, something that Pinterest prides itself on.
Pinterest has become a go-to platform for people during the pandemic so improvements such as these will not only help keep Pinners coming back but can drive new users to the platform especially those who are looking for new ways to stay entertained during the pandemic and planning for life after the pandemic.
