Pinterest Launches Body Type Ranges for More Personalized Search Results
Pinterest has launched a new tool that allows users to select the body types featured in their search results for women's fashion and wedding ideas.
When searching for these categories, users will receive a prompt with a visual cue to choose from different body type ranges. The selections they make will then customize their search results. This tool is powered by Pinterest's body type technology, which uses shape, size, and form to identify different body types in over 3.5 billion images.
In conjunction with the tool's launch, Pinterest is also featuring shoppable content from size-inclusive brands on its search landing pages. These brands include Eloquii, Mara Hoffman, Osei Duro, Gia/Irl, and more.
Pinterest plans to roll out this feature more widely this year and also launch the feature for men's fashion.
Why It Matters: This tool empowers users to personalize their search experience, catering to Pinners' growing demand for more diverse and inclusive content. It’s part of the platform's larger commitment to leveraging AI technology that helps rather than hurts. Pinterest previously launched other features that fall within this category, including skin tone ranges and hair pattern searches.
Pinterest isn’t the only company using AI to create more personalized experiences. At the beginning of the year, Walmart launched Shop with Friends, which allows shoppers to try on outfits virtually and receive feedback from their friends. Shoppers have the ability to choose their size and height to find models that closely align with their measurements.
