Pinterest Brings Shopping to Shuffles App for Gen Z Shoppers
Pinterest is bringing shopping to Shuffles, its standalone collage maker app. Like standard Pins, users will be able to shop for products from them. They can tap on the cutouts in Shuffles and view the brand, price, and other information about the product. Users can also see how many other users viewed the product and other Shuffles that feature the product.
By building a bridge between Shuffles and Pinterest's flagship app, the platform can capitalize on Gen Zās increased interest in creative and expressive apps like Shuffles. With a deeper integration between the two, Pinterest can attract more younger users within this demographic to its app, who are already one of the fastest growing demographics on Pinterest. At the same time, Pinterest is able to support its goal of making more of its platform shoppable.
The integration of shopping follows a number of updates that Pinterest has made to Shuffles. In addition to expanding the app to more countries, it has added a personalized home feed, improved messaging, and more.
Furthermore, Pinterest's investment in Shuffles is part of a growing trend of other social media giants putting effort into growing other apps under their parent company. For example, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok recently launched a Pinterest-like app called Lemon8 in the US and UK. It also has plans to add new features for CapCut, a go-to video editing app for creators.
