LinkedIn Will Remove Carousels, Profile Videos, and Clickable Links

A few months ago, LinkedIn announced that it would be discontinuing certain features, including Carousels, Profile Videos, and Clickable Links.

In a recent update, the platform revealed that on December 14th, it will remove all Carousel content and Profile Videos, and Clickable Links on images or photos will no longer function. However, the posts themselves will remain visible.

Creators who wish to obtain copies of their Profile Videos or files from their carousels can request them from LinkedIn by sending an email before December 11th.

Why It Matters: It is not uncommon for social media platforms to remove or modify features. Meta is well-known for such actions, and recently, other platforms like TikTok, YouTube, X, and now LinkedIn have followed suit.

The reasons behind LinkedIn's removal of these features remain unknown and have caused frustration for creators. The retroactive removal of content previously shared by creators exacerbates the situation, especially for Carousels, which often generated high engagement and are some of creators' top-performing content.

This serves as a reminder that social media platforms are leased spaces, and they can make changes that affect creators. Therefore, it's important that creators ensure they have a presence through their owned channels like websites and newsletters and also maintain a library of their content.
