LinkedIn Is Replacing The ‘People Also Viewed’ Feature With ‘Other Similar Profiles’

LinkedIn is introducing a new feature called 'Other Similar Profiles,' replacing the 'People Also Viewed' feature. This new feature is designed to help users find more relevant members to connect with. It will be automatically enabled for all users starting February 29th without the option to turn it off.

‘Other Similar Profiles' will suggest users on the right panel of profiles and at the bottom of a member's profile on the mobile app. These suggestions will be based on profile-related similarities, such as company, industry, and role.

Why It Matters: The new feature should provide a better recommendation experience by highlighting more relevant profiles.

However, some users may not appreciate the lack of control, as they won't be able to disable the feature, despite it being common for platforms to recommend other users.

Users who had previously opted out of ‘People Also Viewed’ might perceive the recommendation of others alongside their profile as diverting traffic away from them. On the other hand, all users can benefit from being recommended across others' profiles.

This change is part of a series of recent updates on LinkedIn, including the removal of the Creator Mode profile setting and profile hashtags.
