LinkedIn Finally Adds Email Analytics for Newsletters

LinkedIn has quietly introduced two new email-related analytics for newsletters:
Email Sends: The number of subscribers who received an email notification for an article.
Email Open Rate: The percentage of subscribers who opened the email for an article.
LinkedIn notes that these analytics are estimates and may not be entirely precise. These can be found on the Newsletters Analytics Page.
Why It Matters: Email-specific metrics have been a long-requested feature among creators and marketers using LinkedIn Newsletters. The lack of email insights has frustrated some, even pushing them toward dedicated newsletter platforms like beehiiv.
While these new metrics are basic (and potentially inaccurate), they provide insights into how newsletters perform via email, complementing existing LinkedIn-based data like Article Views. For those using both LinkedIn Newsletters and an external platform (such as myself), these additional metrics can help paint a more holistic picture of performance.
This isn’t just beneficial for creators—it also helps brands that sponsor newsletters or collaborate with newsletter creators, as they can now better gauge performance.
What’s Still Missing?: Email Sends and Email Open Rate are good additions, but LinkedIn still has a long way to go in expanding its newsletter analytics. The last major update, back in June, introduced Article Views and New Subscribers by date range, along with subscriber demographics (e.g., job titles, company, locations).
However, the biggest missing piece? Access to subscriber emails.
Creators can’t access subscriber email addresses, likely due to LinkedIn’s data and privacy policies, but also to prevent them from moving their audience elsewhere. While this may keep newsletters creators using LinkedIn, it limits LinkedIn Newsletters from being a full-fledged newsletter solution.
At the very least, LinkedIn should offer an opt-in feature, allowing subscribers to share their emails with creators.
