LinkedIn Adds ‘Contribute Expertise’ Button to Share Box to Encourage Collaborative Article Contributions

LinkedIn has added a new "Contribute Expertise" button to the share box on desktop. When tapped, it generates a pop-up with a list of Collaborative Articles related to popular questions LinkedIn users are asking. Users can tap "Contribute" to respond to a specific question or use the "View all Collaborative Articles" option to explore more topics in the dedicated hub.

Why It Matters: Since launching short-form video, Collaborative Articles have taken a backseat. Last March, LinkedIn reported a 4x increase in weekly member contributions quarter over quarter. However, it recently made them less visible in the feed and removed the Top Community Voices badge, which rewarded contributors. Overall, LinkedIn has been quiet about the feature, shifting its focus to video content.

Still, adding a button to encourage contributions suggests LinkedIn isn’t abandoning the feature entirely. Its placement could drive engagement. Given LinkedIn’s push into video, including incorporating more video into search results, I predict that users will eventually be able to upload video responses to Collaborative Articles. This would support both initiatives.
