Instagram is Testing Prompts in the Comments of Feed and Reel Posts

Instagram New Prompt Feature

Socialandstuff / Instagram

Instagram is testing a 'Prompt' option for Feed posts and Reels. Users with access can select a 'Prompt' option that appears alongside the current Poll option when writing a caption. This will allow the user to add a custom prompt, which will then appear at the top of the comments along with responses and be tagged with an ‘Author Prompt’ label. The 'Prompt' can't be edited after posting.

Why It Matters: In a similar move to Polls in comments,, Instagram is expanding another interactive feature to the comment section.

With these prompts prominently displayed at the top of comments, creators and brands have a higher chance of driving engagement with their audiences through open-ended questions and calls to action. Highlighting the number of responses can also help creators and brands more easily track comments related to their prompt, while also encouraging viewers to join in with their own responses when there are a high number.

With the popularity of the Add Yours sticker for Stories, Instagram has slowly rolled out more poll-related features across different experiences in the app. This includes expanding the Add Yours sticker to Reels and more recently adding Prompts for Notes.
