Instagram Has Been Spotted Testing Collages In Stories

Instagram is developing a new Collage feature for Stories. It will allow users to select multiple photos and choose from three layout options to create and share a single photo dump, as shown in a recent screenshot.

Why It Matters: While Instagram already offers collage-like options with tools like Cutouts, this new feature represents a significant upgrade. By allowing users to create collages directly within a single Story, Instagram taps into the increasingly popular photo dump trend.

Collage-making tools have surged in popularity, largely driven by younger audiences seeking creative outlets for self-expression. Platforms like Pinterest have expanded their collage capabilities to meet this demand, and even Amazon recently launched a collage tool that enables creators to share curated product recommendations for their Storefronts.

Given the growing appeal of collage formats, especially among Gen Z, it's highly likely that other platforms—TikTok, for example—will follow suit by introducing similar features. It will likely be part of its Photo Mode tools and also could have a tie in with TikTok Shop.
