Instagram Adds 'Deactivated Accounts' Category to Identify Inactive Accounts That Follow Users

Instagram has added a "Deactivated Accounts" category to users' following lists. Now, when users view their followers, they can tap this new option to see accounts that follow them but have been deactivated with the option to remove them.

Why It Matters: For users wanting to clean up their followers and ensure their list is accurate, this feature is helpful.

This joins the "Flagged for Review" category, which highlights potential spam or irrelevant accounts following users. Users can remove these accounts or tap the three dots to notify Instagram if they believe an account was incorrectly flagged.

Instagram has the potential to build on these features and roll out additional useful categories, especially for accounts that a user follows. For example, being able to identify accounts a user follows that haven't posted in a certain period of time could be a feature many users would find helpful.
