Google Launches Cameos, A Q&A Video App For Celebrities And Other Public Figures
Google has launched a new Q&A video app called Cameos. As an extension of the Posts on Google platform, the app allows celebrities and other public figures to record short video responses to popular search queries about them. Their responses are then included in Google's search results.
According to the app's description, celebrities and other public figures can:
- Amplify their presence on Google with videos in their own authentic voice
- See the top questions the Internet wants answers to and choose which questions they want to answer from the convenience of their phones
- Keep their Google content up-to-date as they will get new questions regularly and their answers get posted to Google right away
Cameos is somewhat of a hybrid of Reddit's Ask Me Anything and Instagram's Interactive Questions Stickers feature, both of which are popular with their respective users. Based on the proven concept of Q&A, Cameos is set up for success, however, it will really depend on whether celebrities and other public figures see value in the app, download it, and use it. If Google can convince other big names like NBA superstar Kevin Durant and model Karlie Kloss, who are already using the app, Cameos has the potential to be Google's first real success in the social media networking world.
Cameos is available as a free download in the Apple Store, however, you will have to be granted access to use the app.
