Twitter and adidas are teaming up for Friday Night Stripes, a new series that will live stream high school football games this fall on Twitter. Starting September 7, the social media platform and sports apparel company will showcase eight games featuring nationally ranked teams from the states of California, Nevada, Indiana, Georgia, and Florida.

Each of the games will be available globally and can be accessed via the @adidasFballUS Twitter handle from computers, tablets, and mobile devices. Powered by Intersport, the live stream will be accompanied by a Twitter timeline featuring real-time conversations. ESPN and SEC Network's play-by-play announcer  Courtney Lyle and former Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk will provide commentary while YouTube personality Cameron “Scooter” Magruder will report from the sidelines. Special guests including adidas Football NFL athletes, entertainment partners, and influencers will also make appearances and contributions.

Adidas enters groundbreaking territory with this move as it becomes the first brand to live stream high school football. It also reassures the brand as a leader in the digital space.  Earlier this year, it took advantage of the growing popularity of live streams by showcasing various talks, concerts, and experiences.

“From grassroots to the NFL, adidas is ever-present in football culture and being digital first is everything when it comes to connecting with our consumer,” Kelly Olmstead, VP of Brand Activation for adidas said in a press release

As for Twitter, the launch of Friday Night Stripes follows up the company's recent push to become the destination for streaming video.
