Cameo Launches CameoX, a New Policy That Allows Digital Creators to Self-Enroll in Its Marketplace

Cameo's CameoX policy

CameoX

Cameo announced CameoX, a new onboarding policy that opens its marketplace to digital creators. After rejecting over 100,000 applications in the past three years due to not meeting a certain criteria, the platform now allows creators to fill out a form, download the app, and verify their identity to enroll. Since the launch of the CameoX pilot program, over 31,000 creators have joined the platform and completed more than 155,000 Cameos.

Why It Matters: CameoX represents a pivot for Cameo, once valued at $1 billion. While the platform originally focused on celebrity talent, this move broadens its appeal to include digital creators, bringing it more in line with platforms like YouTube and Twitch, where creators of all sizes can monetize. With it common for creators to go viral overnight, Cameo offers a quick and easy way for overnight celebs to capitalize on their moment through personalized shoutouts.

Since its inception in 2017, Cameo has generated over $310 million in talent earnings. By expanding its talent pool and tapping into the popularity of digital creators, who are today’s celebrities, Cameo could build upon this success.
