YouTube Testing Personalized "For You" Section on Channel Homepages

YouTube For You

YouTube

YouTube is currently testing a "For You" section on Channel Homepages. When viewers navigate to a creator's channel, they will see a curated mix of content tailored to their interests, including long-form videos, Shorts, and live streams, based on their historical watching patterns. While creators cannot opt-out during the testing phase, they will be able to turn the "For You" section on or off when it is released more widely. Creators will also have control over the types of content that appear in this section.

Inspired by TikTok's popularity, many platforms now have a "For You" feed or section. YouTube is testing a version of this at the creator level. With creators producing diverse content, ranging from different formats to languages and topics, the existing one-size-fits-all approach for Channel Homepages is outdated.

By offering a dynamic section of content aligned with individual viewers, YouTube allows creators to provide a much more personalized experience for their viewers, potentially increasing viewership by connecting viewers with the content they care about most, based on their viewing history. Allowing creators to eventually opt out and choose what content formats are included is also important, as it lets creators have some control over what their viewers see.
