Telegram Rolls Out Stories to All Users
Telegram has officially launched Stories for all users, following its debut for Premium users last month.
Users can use the dual camera to capture photos and videos using the front and rear cameras for Stories. They can also use Telegram's media editor to add text, drawings, stickers, and tag a location. Additionally, creators can add longer text descriptions as captions, tag others, and include links.
There are four privacy settings to choose from: Everyone, My Contacts, Close Friends, and Selected Contacts. Each of these settings can be customized, such as including or excluding users.
Stories are displayed at the top of the app in an expandable section. They can last for 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours. Creators can also add Stories to their profiles, where they can remain for as long as they want. For the first time, Telegram is also allowing creators to edit any element of their Story at any time, including the visibility, caption, text, and stickers.
Telegram now allows its greater creator community to use the popular Stories content format while adding its own unique twist to make it stand out from Stories on other platforms like Instagram and TikTok. With unique features like the ability to edit a Story at any time and add Stories to a profile grid, Telegram meets user demand and empowers creators with a new way to share and connect with their audiences, particularly in a visual way.
Stories come to Telegram at a time when platforms like YouTube have recently discontinued their own versions of the feature to focus on core features. Twitch, which announced Twitch Stories to help streamers with greater discoverability and a new way to connect with their community when they are not live, is also joining Telegram in launching a Stories feature years after its peak.
