YouTube Rolls Out 'Go Live Together' To Allow Creators To Live Stream Together
YouTube is rolling out Go Live Together to all eligible creators. With Go Live Together, creators can go live with a guest for their live stream.
How Go Live Together Works
Creators can schedule a live stream on their desktop and then go live on their mobile device or go live immediately on their mobile device. Unfortunately, as of launch, creators cannot use Go Live Together from desktop.
When setting up their live stream, creators will enter stream details, including the title, description monetization settings, thumbnails, and visibility settings. After this, they can select invite co-streamer to invite their guest to the stream by email or text. When accepted, YouTube will direct the host and guest to the Preview Room, where they can check the audio and video quality.
Creators can roll pre-, mid-, and post-roll ads on Go Live Together streams and benefit from other monetization tools like Super Thanks. However, the platform will attribute revenue to the host channel of the stream.
As Go Live Together is in its early stages, more capabilities are expected to be added soon. For example, the ability for creators to split ad revenue with their guests, the ability for guests to display the live stream across their channels, and the ability to invite more than one guest at a time could add a great deal of value for creators.
What It Means For Creators & Brands
Go Live Together helps creators collaborate in a new and unique way. It’s a feature that will come in handy for Q&A sessions, interviews, and other talk show format streams. The feature comes as TikTok and Twitch recently launched similar co-streaming experiences in Multi-Guest and Guest Star, respectively.
