A Prime Growth Market for YouTube’s Affiliate Program
India, where YouTube first launched Shorts, represents a significant growth opportunity for YouTube’s affiliate program.
With over 100,000 YouTube channels in India having 100,000+ subscribers, the region has a vast, highly engaged creator and viewer base. In fact, 93% of Gen Z users in India engage with YouTube at least weekly, and in metro areas, 65% of consumers report trusting YouTube creators more than traditional celebrities.
Additionally, YouTube is now the leading streaming service on Connected TVs (CTVs) in India, with viewership quadrupling over the past three years. This rise in CTV usage opens new pathways for creators and brands to reach audiences at home, further expanding YouTube’s impact in the region.
Competing with TikTok and Boosting Creator Monetization
In recent months, YouTube has accelerated its affiliate initiatives to give creators more monetization options and keep pace with TikTok Shop.
This latest expansion follows other recent updates, including a Chrome extension, easier product tagging and an expanded partnership with Shopify.
