YouTube Expands Its Courses Feature To More Creators
YouTube has expanded access to its Courses feature, introduced in 2022, which allows creators to offer both free and paid learning programs via playlists. These playlists now display a special course badge on the Watch and Playlist pages, in search results, and other discovery areas.
Courses also have a dedicated tab on the Channel Page and can be accessed at youtube.com/courses. Additionally, there's a Discussion feature with playlist-level comments and the option to include quizzes.
Why It Matters: This expansion provides more knowledge-based creators with the opportunity to launch and manage courses directly from their YouTube channels, enabling them to earn money.
Instead of using third-party platforms like Teachable, Thinkific, Skillshare, or Kajabi, creators can now host courses alongside their existing content and audience.
Creators could also benefit from YouTube’s discovery features, which may help them reach new, relevant audiences. Similar to Spotify's recent foray into courses, YouTube’s platform can serve courses to relevant audiences based on their consumption habits and searches to the benefit of course creators and those looking to learn.
