YouTube Fully Launches Collab So Creators Can React, Respond & Collaborate With Existing Videos

YouTube

YouTube has fully launched Collab for Android and iOS users, allowing creators to record Shorts in a side-by-side and split-screen format with eligible long-form videos and Shorts.

To access Collabs, creators can navigate to the watch page of a Short or long-form video, click the Remix icon, and select Collabs. They can then sample up to 60 seconds of the video and choose from various layout options before recording their Short while the original video plays.

Why It Matters: Collabs expand YouTube's suite of remixing features, including Green Screen and Cut. With Collabs, creators can provide their unique perspective, response, or reaction to existing videos, similar to TikTok's Duets feature. This makes it easier for creators to build on content from the creator community and participate in trending topics.

Some potential use cases for Collabs include sports creators commenting on highlight videos from their favorite players and teams or comedy creators sharing their reactions to funny videos and memes.
