VSCO Offers Additional Tools and Support Through Its New VSCO Pro Subscription Plan

VSCO announced a new addition to its Membership suite called VSCO Pro. This new tier is higher than VSCO Plus, costs $59.99 per year on iOS, and offers “ a suite of tools, support, and trusted community that enables you to grow in your professional pursuits.”

Here are the new features that come with it

  • Pro Presets: Subscribers can access upgraded presets, which they can customize to a greater extent. They have advanced controls for contrast, color, tone, and strength.

  • Premium Support: Subscribers get priority access and can chat live with a member of the support team from Monday to Friday, 9 am-5 pm PST.

  • Early access to VSCO on the web: Subscribers can access VSCO on the web when it becomes available this summer.

  • Pro Member Badge: Subscribers will receive a Pro Member Badge on their profile.

VSCO Pro offers a broader range of features for creators who may want more than what VSCO Plus currently offers. With priority support and a badge, VSCO is taking a similar approach to Meta, which provides creators with increased support and a blue check through its subscription plan, Meta Verified.

The initial reactions to the announcement of VSCO Pro on Twitter were mixed, with some creators not convinced that upgrading to Pro is worth it. This is understandable, as the most appealing feature of the offering, VSCO on the web, will not be available until this summer. With this, it will enable creators to take their workflows to the desktop and put VSCO in more direct competition with premium editing software like Adobe.

In recent years, social media platforms have become "pay-to-play" for users, as platforms like Twitter, Meta, and Snapchat have launched subscription plans to generate revenue directly from their users and diversify beyond ad revenue. Since VSCO doesn't make money off of ads, it's in a different position than the more mainstream players. With a high-tier plan, it has the opportunity to drive revenue while providing creators with additional tools and support—something that it says continues to be a priority for them.

2023 has been busy for VSCO so far. It recently launched an updated messaging experience that enables paying subscribers to send unlimited messages to anyone on the platform and text support for VSCO Spaces.
