Twitter Rolls Out New Video Products Featuring A Full-Screen, Immersive Viewing Experience

Twitter rolled out new video products, including a full-screen, scrollable immersive viewing experience and a Videos For You section in Explore.

When users click on a video in a tweet, the video player will expand to full screen. They can then scroll up to discover and browse other video content. By clicking the back arrow in the top left corner of the video player, viewers can leave the viewing experience and return to the tweet with the video.

A new Videos For You section now appears in Explore, which will surface personalized, popular, and trending videos for users.

“Videos are a huge part of the public conversation, and they’re one of the most engaging ways people can express themselves online. In fact, videos shared on Twitter receive billions of combined views every year (that’s billions with a “b”),” Twitter said in a press release.

Twitter's push into deeper video experiences shouldn't surprise, given today's video consumption behavior. With a more prominent section for video content, creators could see value in natively repurposing their videos from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for additional reach. In comparison to visual-friendly platforms such as these, Twitter has less video content saturation, allowing creators to reach new audiences and stand out from their competitors.
