TikTok introduces Creator Search Insights, a new tool that provides creators with valuable insights into the topics that users are searching for on TikTok.

By simply entering 'Creator Search Insights' into the TikTok search bar, creators gain access to a hub that highlights frequently searched topics, broken down by categories like fashion, food, sports, and science, or 'For You' topics related to the type of content creators share.

Additionally, creators have the option to filter for "content gap" topics, which are topics that are frequently searched for but have a limited number of videos on TikTok covering them.

Each topic is accompanied by a popularity score, indicating its level of interest among users. Some topics even carry a 'Recommended Topic' label, suggesting a potential for high engagement.

Why It Matters: Utilizing Creator Search Insights can inform a creator’s content strategy, enabling them to take a more data-driven approach to topic selection for their videos. By leveraging these insights, creators can cater to user demands and target underserved content areas, increasing their chances of reaching larger audiences.

As TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program (formerly Creativity Program Beta) pays creators, it will also factor in search value, and creators can better understand the types of videos that may meet the search value criteria for their one-minute-plus videos.

With social media platforms increasingly resembling search engines, tools similar to Creator Search Insights have become commonplace.

For instance, YouTube has offered Search Insights for several years, which tells creators what viewers are searching for and identifies content gaps. Pinterest, on the other hand, provides trend highlights across the platform that are specific to a creator’s audience through its Trends tool.
