TikTok has rolled out a new Preview feature.

How It Works

When selecting or uploading a custom thumbnail for a video, users will now see a Preview button beneath their thumbnail. When clicked, this button will show how the post’s thumbnail will appear on their profile feed.

Why It Matters

It’s a simple feature, but it gives creators and brands a way to see how their post will look in comparison to the rest of their content on their profile.

While most content is discovered through the For You Page, how a post appears on the profile feed doesn’t matter too much. However, this feature provides creators and brands who care about the aesthetic of their profile with more control over how their content is displayed.

Instagram rolled out a similar feature with Grid Preview, which has since been discontinued. This update highlights how more social media platforms are adding small yet useful features that creators and brands previously only had access to through third-party apps.
