TikTok and Redbox Partner to Bring Curated Videos to Over 3,000 Kiosks Across the US

TikTok and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc., the parent company of Redbox are partnering to bring curated TikTok videos to screens on over 3,000 Redbox kiosks at various locations across the US, such as supermarkets, convenience stores, and retailers. Alongside these videos, brands will also have the opportunity to run advertisements.

This collaboration is part of TikTok's broader initiative to expand its reach beyond mobile devices. In addition to the Redbox deal, TikTok has recently entered into agreements to bring TikTok videos to airports through ReachTV, movie theaters via ScreenVision, gas stations via GSTV, and cars through Mercedes-Benz AG.

These partnerships offer several benefits to the parties involved. TikTok increases its distribution by potentially reaching new audiences in high-traffic locations. Redbox expands its advertising offerings, making it more attractive to brands. Brands, in turn, can showcase their ads alongside relevant and engaging content in short-form videos. Furthermore, creators now have a new avenue for their content to be discovered, although details about compensation for creators remain unclear. Lastly, consumers have another source of entertainment available to them.

TikTok is not the only social media platform expanding its presence beyond mobile devices. YouTube has been active in this area with offerings like YouTube TV and a specific experience for consuming Shorts on connected devices. Meta has started testing the ability to watch Instagram Reels on its VR headset Quest, while Twitter has announced plans to launch a Twitter TV app as it delves further into video content.

Social media, which originated on computers and phones, is now rapidly extending its reach across various screens encountered in our daily lives. From running errands and dining in restaurants to going to the movies, traveling, sitting in the doctor's office, and everything in between, social media is becoming a ubiquitous presence.
