Spotify Introduces New Marketing and Insights Tools for Authors and Publishers
Spotify has introduced Spotify for Authors, a new suite of tools for authors and publishers.
With Spotify for Authors, authors invited by publishers gain access to insights, growth, and promotional tools, including:
Listener Data: Aggregated age and gender demographics of audiobook listeners on Spotify.
Redemption Codes: Codes to share royalty-free copies of titles with reviewers, superfans, and collaborators.
Promo Cards: Professional and social shareable assets for promoting titles with just one click.
Author Profiles: Early access to author profiles, allowing authors to share more about themselves and their work.
Why It Matters: The launch of Spotify for Authors comes shortly after Spotify announced a series of experiments for Audiobooks. These tools provide more support for authors and publishers by offering insights into their audience, simplifying title promotion on social media, and more.
In addition to its video podcast push, Audiobooks have emerged as a key focus for Spotify as it aims to be the go-to platform for all types of creators and content.
While YouTube remains a major competitor, Spotify is also directly challenging Amazon’s Audible with recent efforts around Audiobooks — including giving paid subscribers access to one audiobook per month. In response, Amazon has started making Audible titles available on Amazon Music.
