Pinterest recently rolled out a new tool in Pinterest Trends, which is currently in beta. The tool provides a view of the top US search terms over the last past 12 months as well as when the top search terms peak.

With Pinterest Trends, brands and marketers will be able to get deeper insights on platform behaviors such as purchasing behaviors and as a result, be able to allocate budgets properly to campaigns throughout the planning stages. Pinterest Trends will also validate emerging trends on the platform and help brands and marketers refine their search queries by surfacing a list of keywords to include or avoid while planning campaigns.

Grocery chain Albertsons had the opportunity to access Pinterest Trends early, using it to better understand holiday food and beverage trends. With insights from Pinterest Trends, it developed a campaign focused on driving in-store sales for their private label brands, Friendsgiving party ideas, holiday gazing tables, and Christmas desserts.

"Albertsons shoppers want to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to new and exciting trends. We believe Pinterest is the perfect platform to inspire shoppers with a new take on Holiday classics as they plan for the season. Using Pinterest Trends online and in-store enables Own Brands to be top of mind in a truly innovative way," Chad Coester, SVP of Own Brands stated in the press release.

Along with Pinterest Trends, Pinterest announced Pinterest 100, its annual report that reveals the top emerging trends to in the upcoming year. Featuring trends such as conscious consumption, internationally inspired, finding balance, pampered pets, responsible travel, and much more, this report can help provide groundwork for your content strategy on the platform. If you’re interested in checking out the trends and learning more about Pinterest 100, you can view and download the report here.

In other Pinterest news, the platform recently launched Pinterest Shop, a place to discover small businesses and shop their products.
