Pinterest announced the rollout of what it's calling "the biggest updates for creators yet."

The social media app announced several new creator-focused updates that include Story Pins, new creator profiles, a redesigned analytics dashboard, and more.

“We’re launching a suite of creator-first features including Story Pins in beta, a new creator profile and analytics tools to track performance. These new publishing and measurement tools will give creators ways to easily publish immersive and expansive stories directly to Pinterest and reach Pinners looking for inspirational ideas and people to follow, Pinterest said in a blog post.

After testing several iterations of Story Pins, its version of the popular Story content format, Pinterest is now rolling out Story Pins to select creators in the U.S.

“Story Pins is an all new type of Pin and publishing option that gives creators a way to tell dynamic and visual stories with videos, voiceover and image and text overlay,” the app explained.

Unlike other platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook) who have Story features, Story Pins aren't ephemeral and don’t disappear after a certain period of time. Instead, they can be 'Saved' to a board, making them discoverable at any time.

Story Pins can be found throughout the app including the home feed, search results, and in the ‘Today’ tab.

Creator's published content will now be front and center along with 'Saved' Pins on their profiles. Users can also message creators through new contact buttons in ‘Contact’ or ‘Message,’ which are now available on profiles.

Through a redesigned analytics dashboard, creators have access to metrics such as impressions and engagements and insight on how their content performs including how it’s performing with certain categories and interests of their audiences. There is also a new Engagement tab that enables creators to like and respond to comments on their content from one place.

“Over the past few years, we’ve seen creators and brands partner through collaborations and sponsorships to bring new ideas to our Pinners. We’ll continue working on ways to support creators in these efforts,” Pinterest said.

Insights & Analysis:

With this set of updates, Pinterest shows its commitment to helping creators on the platform.

Story Pins empower creators to story-tell in a more dynamic way and easily share instructional content such as recipes, DIY projects, and beauty tutorials, the revamped creator profiles allow them to showcase their content and connect with their audience, and the designed analytics dashboard gives them access to more metrics to see how their content is performing.

With more features and better tools, creators will be able to further strengthen their presence, grow their audience, and become even more attractive to brands, who want to work with creators on branded content to drive long-term engagement on the shopping-friendly platform.
