LinkedIn Is Sending Notifications to Users About Popular Posts in Their Network
Lindsey Gamble / Popular in your network
LinkedIn is notifying users about popular posts within their network by sending notifications in the Notifications tab for posts labeled Popular in your network. These notifications include a photo of the user who posted it and a preview of the caption. Clicking on the notification takes users directly to the post.
LinkedIn hasn’t made any official announcements about this, but based on how it works, these appear to be posts that have received significant engagement from a user's first-degree connections and show strong overall interaction through reactions and comments.
Why It Matters: With Popular in your network, LinkedIn is surfacing content that resonates with a user’s connections. While these are recommended posts, they carry more weight because they’ve already been validated through engagement from people within the user’s network.
Although users may have a mix of connections, there’s typically some level of relevance to those they interact with. LinkedIn is leveraging this dynamic by promoting posts that aren’t just broadly trending but are actively engaging users within a user's circle.
For creators whose posts get featured here, they stand to benefit from increased exposure, which can lead to growing their follower base and attracting new audiences.
