LinkedIn Helps Premium Members Draft Initial Messages With Its AI Writing Assistant

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has expanded the functionality of its AI Writing Assistant to include direct messages. Premium members can now use it to draft their initial messages to other users.

When composing a message, they can easily access a Write With AI button. Clicking this button will give them prompt options to customize their message, such as introducing themselves or asking the recipient to share their experience at their current company.

Members can then review and modify the draft to personalize it before sending it.

Why It Matters: With this feature, members can go from a blank canvas to reaching out to someone who may help them with their job opportunity or just expanding their network.

As writing doesn’t come naturally to everyone, Write With AI provides an outline of a potential outreach message based on relevant information, but typically, with other AI features, it will require them to edit it for accuracy and personalization.

The feature should improve over time as LinkedIn expands its data set. This might be why LinkedIn has been prompting users to have more complete About sections lately, as data from these can help strengthen AI tools such as this.
