LinkedIn Safety Features

LinkedIn has begun rolling out a new feature called About This Profile.

How About This Profile Works

The feature will show users information about a profile, such as when it was created and last updated and whether the user has a verified phone number and/or work email associated with their account.

The About This Profile will initially appear on users' profile pages. Eventually it will expand to other places across LinkedIn, such as Invitations and Messages.

Deep Learning Models To Detect Fake Accounts

LinkedIn says it also created deep learning models to help detect fake accounts that use AI-generated profile photos. Its deep learning models will proactively check profile photos to determine when the image was AI-generated. This will help increase the effectiveness of its automated antiabuse defenses that help detect and remove accounts before getting a chance to join the platform.

Lastly, it is adding warning notifications to some LinkedIn messages that may include high-risk content or take users to other platforms, which can indicate a potential scam. Users will have the option to report these messages without the sender being notified.

As with other social media platforms, LinkedIn has been plagued by fraud, scams, and similar problems. Using these new features, LinkedIn hopes to reduce these issues and make its platform a safer place.
