Pinterest Opens Its API To Third-Party Influencer Marketing Platforms
Earlier this week, Pinterest announced it is opening up its API to third-party influencer marketing platforms for the first time.
"Starting today, we’re opening our content marketing API to third-party influencer marketing platforms to help brands and influencers collaborate more effectively and create exciting new things on Pinterest," Aaron Ru, who is part of the Business & Corporate Development team, wrote in a blog post.
Brands will now have access to key metrics for influencers such as monthly views, followers, impressions, click-throughs, and saves. This will make it easier for them to identify influencers who create engaging content that fits with their targeted audience and ultimately, activate them for campaigns.
AspireIQ, HYPR, Influence.co, IZEA, Klear, Mavrck, Obvious.ly, and Open Influence are the first influencer marketing platforms to officially partner with Pinterest. More information on the partners can be found by visiting the Pinterest Marketing Partners hub.
With more than 250 million monthly users and plans to go public next year, a deeper investment in influencer marketing is a smart move for Pinterest as influencer marketing continues to be a powerful tool for brands to market and advertise to consumers. In 2016, Pinterest first showed its support for brands and influencers with the Pin Collective, a group of expert Pinterest creators. Now, it is strengthening that support, which will likely lead to brands seeing more value in Pinterest campaigns and as a result spending more money on them.
While Instagram remains the platform of choice for brands for influencer marketing, Pinterest is a solid alternative, especially when taking into account that content on Pinterest can drive engagement for up to 120 days.
