Instagram Launches Multitrack Audio in Reels, Allowing Creators to Create Unique Mixes
Instagram launched Multitrack Audio in Reels. This feature enables creators to add up to 20 songs or clips to their videos and visually align audio with elements such as text, stickers, and clips during the editing process.
Creators' unique mixes will be attributed to them and can be saved and reused by others via a "Use Audio Mix" button on an Audio Page, which will also display other Reels that have used the mix.
To use Multitrack Audio, creators can follow these steps:
Record or upload a video.
Tap the Music icon to select your first track.
Use the Edit Video option to add additional tracks.
Arrange, trim, overlap, and adjust the volume of each track.
Change or remove tracks as needed before sharing.
Why It Matters: Multitrack Audio in Reels offers creators new avenues to enhance their Reels. By blending different songs and clips, creators can craft customized audio mixes tailored to their content. For example, travel creators can use New York-themed songs to highlight visits to NYC, comedians can blend funny clips with trending songs, and beauty creators can pair songs with different moods for Before and After transformations.
With creators credited for their unique mixes, it provides another pathway for discovery. For those whose audio creations gain popularity, it not only draws attention to their Reels but also has the potential to attract new followers.
Multitrack Audio follows Instagram's recent addition of music for Carousels with videos.
It continues the trend of platforms like Instagram developing new ways for creators to incorporate audio in their content to make it more engaging and boost discoverability.
