Google expands Google Posts to musicians, allowing them to post Twitter-like updates

Google Musicians Search

Last year, Google introduced Google Posts, a way for businesses, celebrities, politicians, sports teams, and other high-profiled figures to post information directly within their Google Search Knowledge Panel. The company recently announced that it is expanding the feature, making it available for musicians.

With the expansion, verified musicians can now post Twitter-like updates to their respective Knowledge Panel. Through text, videos, GIFs, and links, musicians can keep their fans updated with new music, tour dates, or anything else they want to make them aware of.

Fans will know whether a update came directly from a musician if it has a blue checkmark next to the musician's name.

As of launch, musicians such as Lorde, Steve Aoki, Sia, Son Little, Sofi Tukker, Shakira, and Kygo are using the feature.

For musicians that are interested in taking advantage of the feature can check to see if they are eligible by doing a Google Search of themselves. If a link appears under the Knowledge Panel, asking "Do you manage the online presence for...," then he or she can sign up to use the feature.
